Pierce the Bladesman

Yet at the end of the day...We don't need knight, or holy crusaders....Everyone just wants a good blade. So pick up that blade, spread your feet, because you came here to learn how to kill..how to survive...how to use a blade. Show me what you know. "

Pierce grew up a slave. Born in a slave camp, and put to work in the quarry as soon as he could stand on his own two legs. During the work he learned how to survive on scraps and the glory of adventurers from a fellow prisoner, a old bladesman, named Tavi. Tavi told him of his past life and, and in his opinion what was unholy and evil and what was not. Though these discussions confused Pierce growing up, he continued them with Tavi for years, taking the stories and feats of Tavi to heart. Life was simple with these discussions from 4 - 8.

Tavi took pity upon the boy, and the two become close. Tavi even joked at times that Pierce was his apprentice, which was true to a extent. At night in the Slave quarters, Tavi would teach Pierce the basics behind coordination, footwork, and techniques to use with a blade(though a good piece of wood worked well enough). Many times he said "The greatest weapon is the mind and little tricks...not your honor or the material in the blade....use your mind and you would be a great Bladesman". Tavi taught Pierce as much as he could every night when he had the energy and wits till Pierce was 19.

When Pierce turned 19, a mass prisonbreak happened at the slave camp. Tavi and Pierce were some of those that attempted to flee, yet they were corned by guards as they were nearly to freedom. Tavi fought them off, using a stolen blade. The two were able to escape the camp, yet Tavi was mortally wounded. Before he passed he told Pierce of a old safehouse of his, a place where he rested and stored equipment. He died in Pierce's arms.

Pierce took the time to mourn before heading to the location, not knowing what else to do in his now free life. As he went there he found the safe house in a old cave, but it had been ransacked long ago. He found a suspicious outing in a wall though, and after some time put the brooch into it. A secret compartment opened in the wall, and Tavi found some small items. These included a ancient set of silver blades, runes covered it and it had a sense of power to it. along with that , some minor equipment, some scrolls on stances and techniques. Tavi took what he could and set off, setting what was left on fire to prevent others from taking from his master's belongings.

He wandered the land, following the code of his master Tavi.
