Metals by Goat

Common

Copper: The cheapest material one could use with is being very easy to mine and find as well as being fairly weak. This armour is usually used by those with small funds and are only seeking something to barely get the job done. It is not uncommon to see peasants who wish to make something of themselves or forced into conscription using this for their equipment or using it on their farms and such.

Bronze: A tier above copper, it is a mixture of copper and other metals. It was invented in search of a way to cut down on costs of armour and weapons whilst avoiding the uselessness of copper. As such bronze quality can vary quite drastically but the most common bronze is made from iron and copper putting it at a higher price and durability than copper, but still cheaper and weaker than iron.
Ingot cost = 1 silver coin

Iron: Iron is the most common metal to be found in use. Due to it's relatively common nature and decent durability most people will look to this to get a job done. Whether it be getting decent farm tools, in engineering projects or even military use. Iron can be found within almost all aspects of life within civilisation due to it's relatively cheap but reliable nature.

Steel: This is the peak of what can be commonly found within the world. Steel is much more durable than iron and since it is an alloy is also considerably more expensive. This is due to the fact that steel can not be mined like most metals and contains materials in high demand to be made. As such only those with the funds and skill can even make the basic material, let alone turn it into something or purchase something made from it.

Uncommon

Damascus Steel = It is a special form of steel in the sense it is not true steel. The only reason it is called such is because people commonly refer to it as looking like an elegant steel. A special ore is found and refined in a similar way to normal steel to create it. The ore is referred to as damascus which is where the name of this metal has come from. Dasmascus though is not able to be used for anything as it is simply too soft a metal to be useful in anything but after experimenting it was discovered that refining it in a similar way to steel created a metal much stronger than steel. Dasmascus was already a rare metal but during times where it was mined in excess and was deemed useless, those stores of it were discarded thusly making it much rarer than it was before.
Ingot cost = 1 gold coin

Silver = Silver is closely related to the divine people say and is thus much easier to infuse holy magic into. But since it is used for currency most silver equipment is much more expensive even though it is not as durable as things such as steel. The reason silver equipment is made at all is as a show of wealth or to be used by priests and paladins for equipment as it can be easily infused with their holy magic making it easier for enchantments.
Ingot cost = 2 gold coins

Gold = It is one of the most valuable metals used for currency. Due to the innate elegance and beauty of gold most could not resist using it for decoration and trade as most found it valuable. Yet although it is valuable, it is incredibly heavy and malleable making it unrealistic to be used for equipment and, like silver, is usually used to showcase wealth of an individual. Yet, opposite to silver yet similar at the same time, it is surprisingly easy to infuse chaos magic into the metal. But the consequences of doing such a thing will make the metal become a very dark gold colour and depending on the power of the magic, can increase the strength of the magic by four fold.
Ingot cost = 5 gold coins

Platinum = As being the metal at the height of currency value, platinum is very rare to be seen made into equipment of any kind. Yet it has similar properties as silver but is much tougher making it a popular choice for rich or high ranking paladins or holy warriors. The metal is also know to be corruptible making it very hard for chaos magics to pierce the defences of the metal even without any enchantments further increasing the value of the metal even further than what would be normal.
Ingot cost = 3 platinum coins

Rare

Mithril = An incredibly rare metal. It is one of the hardest metals to find but is measured beyond value especially by those with interests in magic. That is because as well as being incredibly durable and light, it is very easy to infuse most types of magic into the metal. This distinct trait also causes the metal to change slightly in colour when music is infused into it. Holy magic makes it into a pure white colour, druidism makes it a forest green, chaos magic make it an undulating mix of orange and black. Fire makes it a deep red colour, water makes it a deep blue, earth a brown colour and wind a pale yellow. Resonance magic makes it a faint gold colour whilst psychic magic would make the armour become a lavender shade. Illusion magic curiously makes it slightly translucent, people being unable to figure out why or even how it is possible. Conjuration causes the armour to become a deep violet colour with alteration making it a silver colour. Abjuration makes it a bright lime colour and finally, pure arcane magic makes it a light blue colour.
Ingot cost = 10 platinum coins

Tungsten = Being dark in colour, it was first mistaken as being a metal that could be cursed. But after research and experiments with the metal it was found to be unable to house magic of any kind at all making it an almost polar opposite to mithril. But the thing that makes tungsten so valuable other than it's almost unparalleled durability, is this trait to reject magic. This actually leads to the metal having a high magic resistance making it good for armour or weapons used to fight mages as it negates almost all but the most powerful spells directed to it. A downside of tungsten is that fact it is incredibly heavy so is usually user by warriors who have such confidence in their strength that they would never need magic.
Ingot cost = 8 platinum coins

I am ok with any of this being re-wrote, especially the ingot costs since I am new and don't fully understand the current economy of the world and such yet.
