Special Artifacts
Here are a list of special artifacts, with their own unique properties. These artifacts are listed in three tiers. Common, uncommon, and rare.
- Common:
- Silenced Dagger:
- A small dagger with a blade length of 6 inches, this weapon has various spikes protruding from the dagger. The handle would be shaped in a rather strange formation, making it difficult to hold onto. This weapon, while inside of a victim, prevents the victim from making any verbal communications. If the victim is killed by the dagger, then their soul is corrupted. If this artifact is cleansed, the weapon loses its special effect, and becomes a regular, although strangely shaped, dagger.
- Uncommon:
- Vampire Blade:
A Vampire Blade can come in multiple sizes, but they all have the same usage. When the blade has been completely covered with a victim's blood, the wielder of the blade has all of their current wounds scarred over, and replenishes all sustenance that the wielder requires in order to live, based on their race. If they are a vampire, then it quenches their thirst for blood as well as any other effects. This blade cannot restore limbs, or affect the users' bones, meaning that this blade only heals flesh wounds. When the current wounds are healed, they are scarred. These scars are unable to be removed by magic or non-magic means, and the scars are considered corrupt, meaning that holy magic will have an increased effect on the scars specifically.
- Rare:
- Gift of Koros:
- A red orb, which fits neatly into an individual's hand. This red orb has a passive effect, which, when magic is channeled through it, is empowered, granting a +7 roll bonus to anyone who uses it. This artifact can also be consumed, for a +20 roll bonus on any single spell. This orb cannot be used for holy magic, and the bonus is doubled when used to empower chaos magic. If the attempted spell cast fails, then the orb erupts in chaos magic, causing intense pain for the user and giving them a minor corruption curse. The orb is not destroyed in this process. This orb emits a slight unholy presence to anyone around it, and will glow with chaos energy, if the passive or active effects are used.
If this artifact is cleansed, then the bonuses are reduced to +5 for a passive effect, and +15 when consumed for a single spell. This orb can be utilized for holy magic, once cleansed. If the attempted spell cast fails, then the orb erupts in arcane energy, giving intense magical burns for the user, and anyone within a five meter radius of the caster. This orb will emit arcane energy, and have a dim glow, if the passive or active effects are used. The physical appearance of this artifact is also changed from red to blue.
- Gift of Axbus:
- A wooden staff with a blue gem at the end. This staff is used to channel pure arcane energy, and cannot be used for any other school of magic. When arcane magic is channeled through this staff, the magic gains a +10 modifier. If an attempted spell cast fails, then the gem will erupt in arcane energy, causing intense pain for anyone within a 5 meter radius of the blue gem, the caster included. The gem is not destroyed by this process.
If this staff is corrupted, the blue gem turns red, and emits an unholy presence. It can only be used for chaos magic, and gives a +15 modifier when chaos magic is channeled through it. When an attempted spell cast fails, the gem erupts in chaos energy, causing intense pain for anyone within a 5 meter of the radius. Only the caster is given minor corruption.
- Shield of Sacrifice:
- An artifact made by Axbus, then corrupted by Xeres, this shield is capable of absorbing up to 5 magical attacks. Once a spell has been absorbed, the wielder is able to cast any spell from that same category, with a +15 modifier, though they receive minor corruption when casting the spell. This object cannot be cleansed by a ritual, and must be cleansed by a deity.
If the shield is cleansed, then the shield has only a +10 modifier, and does not cause any corruption for the user.
- Chalice of Potions:
This Chalice has an indefinite liquid, which upon being consumed, negates any non-magical toxins within the body. This also cures anyone that has minor corruption, though anyone who has moderate or stronger corruption, will cause serious pain when sipped upon.
If corrupted, the chalice instead has an indefinite poison, which causes stomach pain, and can possibly induce vomiting. Anyone who sips from this will also receive minor corruption. This poison has no effect on anyone who is considered unholy or corrupted.
- Ring of Arcane Consumption:
This ring is something that a user is able to put on any of their fingers, and it will magically alter its size in order to fit onto the finger. Once it has been placed onto the finger, the only way to remove it, is to cut the finger off entirely, at which point the finger cannot be regenerated or otherwise reattached, without the help of a deity. Magic must be channeled through this artifact on a daily basis. For each day magic is not casted through, it will progress through three stages. (Read below)
This ring requires magic to be channeled through it. The first spell that is channeled through this ring receives a -10 modifier. Each spell afterwards receives a -5 modifier. This is reset at the beginning of each encounter, though if a conflict arises shortly after another encounter is finished, this is not reset.
Whenever this ring is used to cast a spell, and it fails, the spell instead has no fail effect, and nothing simply happens. However, if this happens again within 3 spellcasts of the original failure, the ring tightens significantly. There are three stages to this aspect. If 3 spell casts are successful in a row, then it is reverted by one stage. The first stage causes the finger be significantly tight, and the user may lose feeling in the finger. The second stage causes blood loss, and is at risk of losing the finger if the caster is not careful, and the spell no longer loses its fail effect. (Meaning that the spell fail effect is back to normal.) The final stage causes the finger to be cut off, and cannot be regenerated or otherwise reattached without the help of a deity.
- Eye of Aznir:
This Soul Stone of a long forgotten champion of Kasai and Axbus. In life he was corrupted by Xeres, who tempted him with the idea of Godhood. After attempting to usurp Xeres himself, Aznir was corrupted, and banished to the mortal plain in a Soul Stone. This Soul Stone travels from magic user to magic user, granting them wisdom into the magical nature of this world, for the price of mild chaotic corruption that exists with the user until death. Regardless, the Eye grants the user a +5 modifier bonus to Fire and Chaos Magic. On death, the eye will leave the body and search for another victim.
